Location and transport accessibility:
The Razgrad municipality is situated along the valley of
the Beli Lom River in the direction southeast -
northwest, 60 km away from Rousse, 130 km away from
Varna, 55 km away from Shoumen and 36 km away from
Targovishte. The first class road Rousse - Varna and a
railway line, which are the shortest strategic
connection between the Danube and the Black Sea, pass
through the municipality's administrative centre. By the
statistics from 1999 the town of Razgrad has 53576
inhabitants.
All settlements are connected with asphalted roads,
whose surface is however strongly worn out.
The first Bulgarian railway line passes through the
Razgrad municipality.
The municipality is connected by transport arteries with
the nearest harbours and airports, which makes the
passenger and freight services and the air and sea cargo
services.
Distances from the municipal centre Razgrad to:
the nearest checkpoint to Europe and the nearest
international river harbour in the town of Rousse
65km;
the nearest international sea harbour and the Varna
Airport 136km;
by the republican road network to the capital Sofia
370km.
The total length of the street network in the
settlements was 448 km by the end of 1999, including 121
km in the town of Razgrad and 327 km in the remaining
settlements.
The town has its rest objects, of which especially
important are the rest zones in the Pchelina area, the
youth park and the town park. Specific rest objects are
the dam lakes, which are the citizens' favorite places
for fishing and rest.
The attractive tourist objects situated on the
municipality's territory the Voden hunting reserve,
the Pchelina area, the archaeological complex Sboryanovo
and the Sveshtarska grobnitsa (a sepulchre) in it, the
remains of the antique town of Abritus and the
Ethnographical Museum in the village of Pobit Kamak -
are a potential for attracting investments into tourism,
which is not a traditional branch of the region's
economy.
