MONTANA
Location and transport accessibility:
The town of Montana is at 160m above the sea level. It
is situated at 113km north of Sofia, 24km north – east
of Berkovitsa, 102km south – east of Vidin and 49km
south of Lom. The town is located immediately to the
Ogosta River.
Montana disposes of two kinds of transport – bus and
railway transport, by which it is connected with the
other part of the country. There are regular bus lines
to Sofia, Lom, Vidin, Belogradchik, Pleven,Vratsa and to
the smaller settlements. The bus station ( +359
96/23454) and the railway station (+359 96/23846) are
near to each other. Montana is transitional railway
station on the line Boichinovtsi –Berkovitsa.
BERKOVITSA
Location and transport accessibility:
The town of Berkovitsa is situated in the northern foot
of Berkovski Balkan (Western Stara planina mountain). It
is at a distance of 89km to the north of Sofia, 24km to
the south of Montana, 53km to the west of Vratsa and
25km to the north of Petrohan. Two types of transport
connect Berkovitsa with the rest of the world. There are
regular bus routes to Sofia, Montana, Lom, Varshets and
many other smaller villages in the region of the bus
station (+359 953/3574) that are in the east part of the
town. Berkovitsa is the last railway station of the
local railway line Boichinovtsi – Montana – Berkovitsa.
LOM
Location and transport accessibility:
The town of Lom lies on the right bank of Danube River.
The harbour of the city sprang up 170 years ago. It is
located on a strategic place where lots of trade roads
cross themselves. The port’s location and the convenient
connections by land to the south of Danube influence
favorably the development of Lom. The town transformed
into an important transport center in the northern
Bulgaria. Today two of the European water corridors (4th
and 7th), famous with the name “Crete ones” cross each
other in the Lom harbour. Lom is situated on the
shortest way from Greece and Macedonia to the river of
Danube.
CHIPROVCI
Location and transport accessibility:
There are a lot of things that can attract the
tourists’s attention. For one this is the beautiful
nature, for other the history of the town and for the
third one – the unique Chiprovski carpets. Nowadays the
production of the carpets is still reality. The
population of the town is 3100.
Chiprovtsi is small town settled in the foot of the
Stara planina mountain, located at the distance of about
30 km. far from Montana. Through the town flows the
Ogosta river, coming from the high parts of the
mountain. The Chiprovtsi waterfall is another landmark,
that you should not miss. The waterfall is not big, but
the place where it is located is very picturesque. The
waterfall itself is very beautiful creature of the
nature.
