DOBRICH
Location and transport accessibility:
The Dobrich municipality is located in the Dobrich
district, which consists of eight municipalities:
Dobrich-Town, Dobrich-Region, Balchik, Shabla, Kavarna,
Tervel, General Toshevo and Kroushari. The municipality
is situated in the Danube Hilly Plain upon the Dobrouja
Plateau - 45km away from Airport Varna and 35km away
from the Balchik Harbour.The town of Dobrich is the
second largest economic centre in Northeast Bulgaria.
The municipality's territory encompasses the town of
Dobrich and the "Riltsi" district with a total area of
1705 hectares.
BALCHIK
Location and transport accessibility:
The town of Balchik is 36km between north and north –
east of Varna, 501km away from Sofia, and is situated on
the coast itself. There is a big harbour used for medium
– size passenger and trade vessels.
Kranevo is a small village located about 20km north of
Varna and 2km south of Albena resort.
The shore between Kranevo and Albena is high and
extremely picturesque with sharply cut rocky formation.
There are a lot of vines and small private gardens on
the shore.
This place is suitable for those on a budget, because
the prices in Kranevo are far cheaper than those in
Albena, besides there is a great capacity of private
lodgings for foreigners and Bulgarian tourists. There
are a lot of restaurants, cafes, snack bars and bars.
There are regular bus lines to Kranevo from Varna,
Balchik and Dobrich.
The resort of Albena with its 5km long and 150m wide
beach is lying in a picturesque bay only 30km from Varna
and 502km north-east of Sofia.
Albena is an ecological resort. The rare combination of
fresh air, crystal clear sea and mineral water, remedial
herbs, various natural products and perfectly organised
Medical and Spa Centre make Albena a perfect location
for family holidays.
The resort has three camping sites –Albena,
International and Ekzotika, which offer great
opportunities for housing tourists and holidaymakers.
There is a regular transport to Albena from Balchik,
Varna, Golden Sands, and Dobrich. Apart from the regular
town buses there are a lot of private minibuses, route,
and ordinary taxis, water transport from the small
harbor of the resort.
KAVARNA
Location and transport accessibility:
Kavarna municipality has a unique natural potential,
which is decisive for its social and economical
development. It is situated in the most eastern part of
Danubian plain, right in the Dobrudza sea coast.
Most of its territory is occupied with agricultural
land. The picturesque seaside of Kavarna is 42km long
with little sand strips. That’s the reason why an
artificial beach is set up.
TBefore all the name of Kavarna is connected with
Kaliakra cape. Cape Kaliakra is situated 12km east of
Kavarna, and 60 km north-east of Varna. It has sheer
cliffs that drop 70 meters to the sea below. The
settlement has changed its name several times –
Tetrasiada, Akre and then Kaliakra. The name means
“beautiful cape”, due to the abundant pink. Legend has
it that the colour is from the blood of the defenders of
the fortress, built in the 4 th century before Christ
and later used by the Romans and Byzantines.
There is a holiday village named Russalka on the north
of Kaliakra cape, close to “The birds’ Bay”, located
90km northeast of Varna. The Holiday club is in the
Natural reserve Tauk Liman (Birds’ Bay), amidst a
picturesque oak forest, near the popular national
historic reserves of Yailata and Cape Kaliakra. The
small sheltered sand beaches, water caves, crystal-clear
see water in which dolphins play, rare flora, numerous
bird species and archaeological monuments dating back
millennia, create an incomparable atmosphere for
wonderful holidays.
